MÁRCIO PASCHOAL

Born in Rio de Janeiro, with a degree in Economics, Márcio Paschoal is a journalist and writer, author of a biography on composer João do Vale. Hundreds of his articles and essays were published on daily Jornal do Brasil. He published three novels and two humor books by Record: SOFÁ BRANCO (WHITE SOFA), which won honorable mention Graciliano Ramos-Brazilian Writers Union (UBE), ODARA and OS ATALHOS DE SAMANTA (SAMANTA’S SHORTCUTS);

CADA LOUCO COM SUA MANIA (MADS & MANIACS), and HORÓSCOPO SEXUAL PARA PRATICANTES (THE SEXUAL HOROSCOPE FOR USERS). By InVerso, he launched the novel A MORTE TEM FINAL FELIZ (THE HAPPY ENDING DEATH); by Mirabolante, the humour essay A MACONHA ESTÁ BÊBADA (THE GRASS IS DRUNK); and by Zit, the children´s book O LIVRO MALUCO E A CANETA SEM TINTA (THE CRAZY BOOK AND THE PEN WITHOUT INK).

Rogeria, born Astolfo Barroso Pinto, had to overcome huge obstacles to affirm herself, first as homosexual and human being, and then as an icon of cross-dressing in Brazil. She is a pioneering symbol of the struggle for transgender rights and the conquest of sexual freedom. The biography of this larger than life character, tremendously popular in her country, will count on comprehensive iconography and testimonies of several artists and personalities who got to know her.
